Crystal Baker-Wray

Crystal Baker-Wray, DNP, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Monmouth in West Long Beach, New Jersey where she completed a study that focused on Innovative Approach to Transient Ischemia Attack (TIA) Care. She received her Master's in Family Nursing from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, Post Master's Certificate in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama.​

Crystal has 14 years of experience providing neurological care as a nurse practitioner in critical, acute, and outpatient settings. Seven years ago, her primary role at a community hospital in Elizabeth City, North Carolina was to help develop the neuroscience service line where support in neurological services for patients within the inpatient setting and emergency department was ensured when before there was no support. There is where her passion for neurobehavioral disease processes was cultivated. In spring of 2022 she sorted out in obtaining her post-master's certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. She completed her post-master's certificate in December 2023.

While in neurology she has seen over the years that neurology and psychiatry medicine coexist and mostly overlap. In a quest to better help patients, she has implemented into her practice and treatment of patients, neuropsychiatric when applicable. Neuropsychiatric is a branch of medicine that deals with psychiatry as it relates to neurology, to understand and attribute behavior to the interaction of neurobiology and social psychology factors. As an Advanced Practice Clinician, she can bridge and connect the two specialties to better treat illnesses that fall under both neurological and mental disorder classification. Her clinical experience and interests are post stroke depression, psychogenic nonepileptic seizure usually linked to a trauma history, (PNES), cognitive behavioral, ADHD, autism, PTSD, situational depression and anxiety, grief therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy. Crystal continues to work in neurology as a neurohospitalist nurse practitioner as well as in aesthetics at Healthy You Wellness Spa. She is married to Mr. Eric Wray II, who is Navy Veteran and owner of E. Vaughn Wray Funeral Establishment located in Norfolk, Va. Her other fulfillments in life are spending time with her husband and family. She enjoys spending time and traveling with her two younger nieces; Octavia and Kinsley, over the summer months. She also supports her husband in business in providing her stylish taste in decorating, family relation, and grief support.
